Wedding Flower Trend :: Rainbow Roses

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

The new color of roses

There is no doubt about it; I love color and lots of it! Granted, my taste has come a long way from my childhood when my bedroom walls were hot pink and my ceiling fan was neon orange (no joke, a normal person would have been blinded), but nonetheless I still crave color, and rainbow roses definitely satisfy that craving!

Rainbow roses were developed in Holland. The color comes from dyes made from natural plant extracts that are absorbed in the roses as they grow. They are the new floral trend in Europe. If you fancy bold color, you will love these roses too.

I think these roses are fun and fresh, but realize they might not be for everyone. If you like all the color, but are not sure about the rainbow rose, there are plenty of other ways to incorporate bold color in your floral design.

A Wedding Design Element…
Pomanders, So Simply Chic

Pomanders, also known as floral balls or spheres, will give your wedding a simple and chic look. Pomander Aisle Markers

Use pomanders to decorate your aisle. The ribbons can easily be hooked on the back of chairs. Or, garden hooks can be placed along the aisle to add height and draw more attention to your pomanders.

Floating Pomanders

Does your wedding venue have a pool or other water feature that needs some dressing up? Add floating pomanders!

Pomander Centerpieces

Pomanders add a geometric quality to typical floral centerpieces. Pomanders can also do double duty here…use them as your aisle markers and then place them atop a vase for your centerpieces.

Once again, these pomanders can do double duty. Your bridesmaids won’t walk around with them during the reception, so use them as part of your centerpieces!

Flower Girl Pomanders

The quintessential pomander is the Flower Girl pomander. Adorably feminine, pretty pomanders are the perfect flower girl prop. (Let them sprinkle rose petals on the aisle before the ceremony begins…they’ll get to toss petals and you’ll make sure your aisle is perfectly petaled.)

Wedding Flower Trend: Baby’s Breath

Friday, August 13th, 2010

Lately I’ve been mesmerized by the way brides are using a flower that is often overlooked: Baby’s Breath. I turned my nose up at Baby’s Breath at first because of its reputation as a “filler flower”, but after seeing all of these photos, I’ve changed my mind.

Baby’s Breath can create a simple, rustic feel, or a lush, elegant feel, depending on how it is used.

In addition to looking floaty and full, Baby’s Breath is a great choice for keeping your wedding details beautiful while not breaking the bank. It’s also fairly heat tolerant!

Brooch Bouquets

Friday, July 30th, 2010

The flowers from your wedding will no doubt be beautiful, and many brides will preserve their bouquets afterward as a memento from the day. But what if your bouquet came pre-preserved?

These unique bouquets, crafted from brooches, are breathtaking and won’t ever wilt. Brides have the option of including vintage pins and brooches they’ve collected in antique shops, or for something even more special, using pieces from their family members.

How special is it that no other bride will ever have a bouquet like yours?
