From Proposal to ‘I Do’

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

When blogs feature Real Weddings, they often focus on just one photo shoot. As I was looking at photo albums from Thanks for the Memories, I found myself finding each couple’s engagement album, then bridal session and then their wedding. Looking at each couple’s photos in that order helped tell the story of their time from proposal to ‘I do’.

Engagement Photos in Gruene

Monday, May 10th, 2010

One of the first decisions engaged couples face is where to have their engagement photos taken.

Instead of going to all of the typical locations, most couples are now seeking sites that are uniquely them…locations that reflect their personalities and interests.

Norman, from Thanks For The Memories, photographed Ashley and Brad in Gruene. Just South of Austin and home to the very famous Gruene Hall, Gruene is full of photo opportunities. After scouring hundreds of websites for engagement photo inspiration, Ashely knew the iconic water tower, windmills, the river and, of course, Gruene Hall would all provide the perfect backdrop for her engagement photos with Brad. Having shot there many times before, Norman knew the perfect spots to take them.

Jennifer & Jason’s Austin Engagement Photos

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Jennifer and Jason had their engagement photos taken by Rojo Pictures.

To make their engagement photos personalized and unique to their relationship, they incorporated their guitars and the blue they’ll be using as their wedding color.

Austin Blue Tile Wall

From Rojo Pictures:

What a cute couple! Meet Jennifer & Jason.
Their engagement session was a lot of fun to shoot. We met them at Waterloo Park where most of the shoot took place.
We set them up in a few places – but after that we just let them be and captured great moments of a great couple.
Jason is in a band and Jennifer is begining to learn a few chords – so they brought their guitars and we got to hear them play as the sun set.

Blue is one of their colors in the wedding, so after Waterloo Park we went downtown to get a few shots in front of a large blue tile wall, as night fell we walked over to some train tracks right as a train passed by!

It was a great evening and we wish them all the best in their marriage!

I love how comfortable these photos are. They don’t feel too posed or stiff. Jennifer and Jason seem right at home with each other in each of these situations…with Rojo Pictures there to document their interactions.
Beautiful!

Vintage-Inspired Engagement Photos

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Iconic engagement spots are quite abundant in this town. The Austin mural, the capitol building, the UT tower…just to name a few. Living in a town with such noteworthy sites, there’s definitely a good reason for them. But, how many times have you seen the same engagement photo, the only difference being the couple who’s pictured?

Danny Brod from Daniel C Photography had the opportunity to do something different.
Amy, the bride pictured here, wanted something other than the ‘your face here’ engagement photos. Her idea for a retro photo session at various places around town resulted in a series of super memorable, incredibly unique engagement photos.

Unique Austin Engagement Photos

From Danny:

I’ve known Amy for a little while now, and I was absolutely thrilled when she asked me to be her wedding photographer.
I was even more thrilled when I found out about her funky, off-beat idea for a retro engagement session circa 1955.
I love getting the opportunity work with a bride who really wants to think outside the traditional wedding box.
Plus, it’s a great chance to redefine a lot of the classic and oft-photographed Austin spots. We hit a ton of locations, ended up shooting for about 4 hours and capped it all off with some margaritas!
Some of those locations include: Nau’s Enfield Drug, Doc’s, Amy’s Ice Cream (I just love the little pun here!), the So-Co district, Roadhouse Relics, and a few secret spots too! While outside of Jo’s Coffeehouse, we happened upon a couple who owned a ‘55 Porche. They were nice enough to let us use it as a prop. Perfect! I had a blast, and love how the pictures came out. I hope you love them too!!

Unique Austin Engagement Photos

I love this session. You can tell Amy put a lot of thought into how she wanted these photos to look! And, Danny did a fabulous job capturing the vintage vibe.

Come see Danny at The Allan House on March 3 and enter the raffle for a chance to win a free engagment sesson with Daniel C Photography! Buy a ticket and bring a guest for free with code GUEST.
