Iconic engagement spots are quite abundant in this town. The Austin mural, the capitol building, the UT tower…just to name a few. Living in a town with such noteworthy sites, there’s definitely a good reason for them. But, how many times have you seen the same engagement photo, the only difference being the couple who’s pictured?
Danny Brod from Daniel C Photography had the opportunity to do something different.
Amy, the bride pictured here, wanted something other than the ‘your face here’ engagement photos. Her idea for a retro photo session at various places around town resulted in a series of super memorable, incredibly unique engagement photos.
From Danny:
I’ve known Amy for a little while now, and I was absolutely thrilled when she asked me to be her wedding photographer.
I was even more thrilled when I found out about her funky, off-beat idea for a retro engagement session circa 1955.
I love getting the opportunity work with a bride who really wants to think outside the traditional wedding box.
Plus, it’s a great chance to redefine a lot of the classic and oft-photographed Austin spots. We hit a ton of locations, ended up shooting for about 4 hours and capped it all off with some margaritas!
Some of those locations include: Nau’s Enfield Drug, Doc’s, Amy’s Ice Cream (I just love the little pun here!), the So-Co district, Roadhouse Relics, and a few secret spots too! While outside of Jo’s Coffeehouse, we happened upon a couple who owned a ‘55 Porche. They were nice enough to let us use it as a prop. Perfect! I had a blast, and love how the pictures came out. I hope you love them too!!
I love this session. You can tell Amy put a lot of thought into how she wanted these photos to look! And, Danny did a fabulous job capturing the vintage vibe.
