Wedding Flower Trend: Baby’s Breath

Friday, August 13th, 2010

Lately I’ve been mesmerized by the way brides are using a flower that is often overlooked: Baby’s Breath. I turned my nose up at Baby’s Breath at first because of its reputation as a “filler flower”, but after seeing all of these photos, I’ve changed my mind.

Baby’s Breath can create a simple, rustic feel, or a lush, elegant feel, depending on how it is used.

In addition to looking floaty and full, Baby’s Breath is a great choice for keeping your wedding details beautiful while not breaking the bank. It’s also fairly heat tolerant!

What do you think about Baby’s Breath? Would you use it?

As you can see, succulents can be incorporated into almost every aspect of your wedding design. They’re perfect for Summer weddings since they can withstand the heat. They’re perfect for Winter weddings because they’re always ‘in bloom’. And, they’re sustainable…you can incorporate them into your home decor after the wedding or gift them as wedding favors.

Wedding Henna

Inspired by India
Ancient Tradition with a Modern Twist

Mehndi (photo source), better known as henna in the U.S., is an ancient art form that originated as a way to decorate the body for special occasions like weddings. The mehndi ceremony takes place a few days before the wedding at which time the bride’s hands and feet are covered in elaborate designs by a mehndi artist.

Mehndi is both a beautiful and important part of South Asian wedding traditions that you can incorporate in your special day! Not ready to turn your hands into a canvas in the name of design for your big day?

Why not use your cake instead? A mehndi inspired cake design is a unique way to add a touch of class and sophistication to your wedding. Check out some of the ways in which brides have given this ancient art a modern twist!

Giveaway :: Objects of Confection

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

If you’ve ever been to a Weddings Unveiled show, you absolutely know Jessica from Objects of Confection. If you’re like me, you probably found an excuse to visit her table at least twice (okay, so maybe more like 3 5 times). Objects of Confection is a local confectionery specializing in artisan truffles and cake balls.

Jessica, the chocolate mastermind, is a genius when it comes to flavor and texture. But, what is truly amazing about her work is how personalized her creations are for each and every couple.

Cake Balls Austin

You may remember this amazing spread from one of our previous posts. The bride and groom had a Farmer’s Market themed wedding and THIS is what Jessica came up with. Amazing, right?

Well, lucky you…I have two gift certificates. Each is for $50 on a $100 minimum order. Perfect to go towards your cake budget. Or, truffles are a nice addition to what you already have planned. Favors, a dessert station, hotel gift bags, bridal party gifts…the options for how to use one of these gift certificates is endless.

To enter, all you need to do is simply leave a comment on this post. The winners will be chosen randomly and notified on Saturday. Good luck!
