Wrapped Around His Finger

Couples who choose to engrave their wedding rings get to add something special; Words, initials, dates, etc, to an already meaningful symbol. Brent and Jessica Williams decided to take this concept to a different level, not by what they engraved on their own wedding rings, but from what they engrave on the rings for couples that order from their Etsy shop.

Fabuluster, an Etsy shop that specializes in making wedding bands using the individual fingerprints of spouses-to-be, has been the solution for many couples looking for something truly unique to them. The idea is for the bride’s fingerprint to be on the groom’s ring, and vice versa, or any variation, including mixing the fingerprints on the same ring. In my experience, it’s typically harder to find a unique ring that the groom loves, as a lot of times the bride’s ring will match her engagement ring, so this is a popular choice for brides to give to their grooms.

They are SO customizable; Fabuluster does rings with fingerprints on the inside, outside, or just one fingerprint so the fingerprint details can be as discreet or obvious as you want. They can also machine engrave those special dates and words inside the rings.

Upon an order, Fabuluster sends a kit in the mail with instructions on how to imprint one’s fingerprints. Then the kit gets mailed back, and Brent and Jessica make a wax form of the impression in order to make the ring. Don’t worry, they send extra imprint strips, just in case.

The rings take between 6-10 weeks once they receive an imprinted kit, so plan ahead!

What a lovely family heirloom these rings would make, in addition to being so unique and romantic!

Hung Up on Lila Frances

Monday, July 26th, 2010

A new wedding keepsake for brides is brought to us by brilliant Etsy seller lilafrances :: Bridal gown hangers.

Featured in the Summer 2010 issue of Martha Stewart Weddings as well as by Victoria’s Secret, these hangers are customizable up to 14 characters. Brides get creative, but standard ideas include the bride’s name, a heart, or my favorite: “Mrs. ______”. On her Etsy site, Anna (the shop owner) describes her standard hanger for gowns or lingerie. What better way to display your wedding night attire than on a new “Mrs. _________” hanger?

Engagement Photos in Gruene

Monday, May 10th, 2010

One of the first decisions engaged couples face is where to have their engagement photos taken.

Instead of going to all of the typical locations, most couples are now seeking sites that are uniquely them…locations that reflect their personalities and interests.

Norman, from Thanks For The Memories, photographed Ashley and Brad in Gruene. Just South of Austin and home to the very famous Gruene Hall, Gruene is full of photo opportunities. After scouring hundreds of websites for engagement photo inspiration, Ashely knew the iconic water tower, windmills, the river and, of course, Gruene Hall would all provide the perfect backdrop for her engagement photos with Brad. Having shot there many times before, Norman knew the perfect spots to take them.

Jennifer & Jason’s Austin Engagement Photos

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Jennifer and Jason had their engagement photos taken by Rojo Pictures.

To make their engagement photos personalized and unique to their relationship, they incorporated their guitars and the blue they’ll be using as their wedding color.

Austin Blue Tile Wall

From Rojo Pictures:

What a cute couple! Meet Jennifer & Jason.
Their engagement session was a lot of fun to shoot. We met them at Waterloo Park where most of the shoot took place.
We set them up in a few places – but after that we just let them be and captured great moments of a great couple.
Jason is in a band and Jennifer is begining to learn a few chords – so they brought their guitars and we got to hear them play as the sun set.

Blue is one of their colors in the wedding, so after Waterloo Park we went downtown to get a few shots in front of a large blue tile wall, as night fell we walked over to some train tracks right as a train passed by!

It was a great evening and we wish them all the best in their marriage!

I love how comfortable these photos are. They don’t feel too posed or stiff. Jennifer and Jason seem right at home with each other in each of these situations…with Rojo Pictures there to document their interactions.
Beautiful!

How To Make Your Thank Yous Special

Thursday, April 1st, 2010
DIY Thank You Notes
Your wedding is over, and you’ve been spending countless hours writing thank you notes to all your guests. You’re so tired of writing that all your letters are starting to sound the same. “Dear So-and-so, Thank you for helping us celebrate our special day, it really meant so much to us. Thank you for ____ (insert gift here), I can’t tell you how much we appreciate it. Sincerely, Your Name.” Sound familiar?

You get down the list to your bridesmaids, maid of honor, and mother. It just doesn’t feel right to send the same thank you to them that you did to your third cousin from Cleveland that you see once every five years. This is where a memorable shadow box keepsake, with a photo and dried flowers from your wedding day, is a great thank you idea.

It’s a great way to share your photos, that you were already planning to send, and to show how much these guests meant to you in a truly creative way. Here’s how to do just that via DIY Bride.

DIY Shadow Box Thank You

What you’ll need:
-Shadow Box Frame: Available at your local craft store
-Wedding Photo
-Dried Corsage or Flowers
-Card Stock
-A Poem/Thank You tribute/Favorite Verse
-Pop Dots: Little disks placed behind any 2-D item to make it 3-D.These are also available in the scrap booking department
-Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
-Scissors

How To Make It:

1. Take the card stock that you’ve chosen as your background color and cut a piece the same size as the inside back of the shadow box. This will be the base.

DIY Thank You Notes

2. Cut the photo into any size or shape that will fit into the shadow box frame. I made a smaller copy of the original and cut it into an oval. To give the photograph a finished framed appearance, I cut two more ovals each one ¼” larger than the other. I cut a white oval ¼” larger than the photo, then cut one more out of my black pin dot cardstock which was1/4” larger than the white one. You can make two or three ovals if you wish. Center your photo onto the first white oval and glue it down. Take this oval and photo and center it onto the second larger oval and glue it down. Now you have a sturdy, pretty “framed” photograph.

3. Now for the poem. Center the poem on a slightly smaller oval than the photo one. I used just one other oval to “frame” the poem and cut it out of the black pin dot paper making it 1/8” larger all the way around. Center the poem on the larger oval and glue it down.

DIY Thank You Notes

4. Punch out two Pop Dots from the card. Remove the backing from all sides of each dot and stick them together. Stick the double dots onto the center back of the “framed” photo. Do the same to the framed poem, but use THREE dots so that the poem will stand out and over the photo when placed on the background.

5. Arrange all three elements: corsage, photo and poem around on the inside back of the frame (which you have already covered with the background colored paper and glued down). Move all three around until you find a pleasing arrangement

DIY Thank You Notes

6. Place the glass and frame over it all to make sure they all fit in nicely. If they do…. hot glue the corsage in place and put the frame back together.

And, voila! A much more meaningful thank you for your honored guests.
